Circa 1745-1755.
Oval globular form with half-ribbed body, tapering hexagonal sided short spout, bold handle. Painted in polychrome enamels with sprays and sprigs of roses, the spout and handle with puce bands, flowerheads and sprays. Cover absent.
D.V incised to underside.
Approximate dimensions: 4 1/2 H. x 6 1/16 W. including handle x 3 7/8 D..
Provenance: Historic Filoli Estate, Woodside, CA.
Condition: Overall condition is very good two nicks and a 1/3 L. hairline crack to flange base lightly rough and with minor staining, as fired. Black dots of frit to surface.
The spout similar to an example in the inventory of Brian and Anna Houghton, London, England.
