Female figure holding metal spear in one hand and shield with Gorgon head in the other the finish looks to be ebonized over the gilt, and then partially removed.
Approximate dimensions including loose spear: 24 1/2 high x 11 wide x 7 1/8 deep..
Provenance: Historic Filoli Estate, Woodside, CA.
Condition: Wear and loss to finish throughout. Some cracking to base and small gaps to seams. Loss to fingers in spear hand. Previous insect damage. Spear with repair to break.
