Condition: Marble has weight, surface dust and dirt especially in the crevasses, handling wear, minor scratches, no signs of repair under UV light. Bio: French sculptor best known for works depicting allegorical and patriotic subjects. He began exhibiting at the Salons of the Academy of Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1863. Acceptance into these exhibits was crucial to societies acceptance of ones work. Picault was a particularly prolific sculptor, producing almost 500 designs.
