Condition: foxing at the top. Notes: Charles Louis Smith was an activist artist living in San Francisco. He can be traced to his notable work at the Battle for International Hotel in San Francisco. A black artist, Smith helped the many Chinese and Filipino immigrants with their nine-year long anti-eviction campaign.

A Rare Chinese Blue and White Quatrefoil Ovoid Jar
Finely painted with figures pursuing various activities in a landscape setting, the recessed base inscribed underglaze blue six-characters Wanli reign mark within a double-lined circle, atop a reticulated carved wooden hardwood base, all fitted in a box. Height approximately 4 1/2 inches (11.4 cm) without the base. Provenance: Christies GE570 Lot 172.
Of deep rounded bowl rising from a short cylindrical foot, covered overall with a bright lemon-yellow glaze over the lappet and swirl band in low relief, the center of the interior enameled and decorated with peach and stems, the bottom incised a blue and white Da Qing Yong Zheng Nian Zhi reign mark in a double circle. Diameter 8 inches (20.3 cm). Condition: Crack on the rim, scratch mark on the wall.
A Large Chinese Famille Rose Porcelain Brush Holder
The wide cylindrical body decorated with a Children at Play scene in various colors, the bottom remain unglazed. Height approximately 6 inches (15 cm). Condition: Glaze losses on the rim, crackles to the glaze.
China. The rounded sides rising from the flared foot with an angle at the shoulder before the tall, high-waisted neck set with circular dragon-head shaped handles with geometric tails, with a fitted wooden base. Height approximately 9 3/8 inches (23.8 cm). Condition: Overall wear and patina.
Of heavily casted barrel form, the flat top surmounted by a suspension handle formed by two addorsed side-by-side chimeras, the sides finely cast with a pair of sinuous five-clawed dragons with intricately rendered scales and serrated back manes, striding amidst Lingzhi-shaped clouds and flames above a band of rolling waves, the dragons separated by vertical rectangular panels, each surrounded by clouds, all between bands of classic foliate scrolls. Height approximately 10 inches (25.4 cm). Condition: Overall wear.
Composed with a straight nine-inch double-edged blade, stepped brass guard, green hardstone hilt, the grip with central knop, and scrolling pommel. The cloisonne scabbard decorated with blossoms and tendrils in tones of light and dark green, light and dark blue, rose, red, white, and pink on a yellow ground. Length approximately 16 1/2 inches (41.9 cm). Provenance: Bonhams 12/9/2003. Condition: Some wear, chips, and surface losses.
Outstanding Chinese Gilt Filigree and Cloisonne Figure
Showing a lady dressed in gilt filigree layered robes decorated with colorful hardstones standing from a large cloisonne enameled clamshell with elaborated hardstones, fitted with a carved hardwood base. Height approximately 33 inches (83.8 cm) without the base.
Seated on a high rock form pedestal, one hand rests on the right leg, another placed on the rock wearing a long pleated robe covering both shoulders, his face with a serene expression, elongated earlobes, under the curled headdress and ushnisha. Height approximately 28 1/2 inches (72.3 cm). Condition: Overall wear and cracks, the right arm is broken and separated.
Showing four carved and painted standing guardian figures on plinths, all wearing loose robes with upper bodies bare, with a fierce expression, traces of pigment and paint. Height approximately 33 inches (84 cm). Condition: Wear, cracks and losses.

Ink and color on paper. Depicting scholar figures in landscape. Hardwood frames. Dated, inscribed and signed with three artist seals. Dedicated to Gong Weizhen, who was the vice governor of Jiangsu province at that time. Inscribed and signed Fu Baoshi and dated to July 1962 in Nanjing. H 39 1/2 x W 11 7/8 inches (100.3 x 30.1 cm) with hardwood frames.
Late 19th century. The scalloped upper tier over gilt bronze foliate supports, the scalloped lower tier on cabriole legs, with gilt bronze mounts throughout. Approximate dimensions: 41 1/2 high x 35 1/4 wide x 25 3/4 inches deep.. Condition: Light wear overall. Some small circular marks to the top tier finish.

The galleried top lifting to reveal a compartmented area with metal insert, cabriole legs with oval stretcher, checkerboard marquetry and gilt bronze mounts throughout. Approximate dimensions: 32 1/2 high x 25 wide x 17 1/2 inches deep.. Condition: Minor wear overall. Some patina to mounts. Light surface wear. Some sticky residue to finish.
