On one side, an extensive engraved oval laurel leaf wreath enclosing a banded sheaf of wheat over a banderole. Probably for a member of the Fair family. Six 18th Century English Pewter Dishes by Samuel Ellis
Touch marks, SAMUEL ELLIS bracketting a hind also pictorial mark over X S ELLIS in band to rim. Touch marks to underside of basin. Circa 1840. Samuel Ellis, active second quarter, 18th Century. The rims engraved with ducal crest with spotted ewe emergent from the five leaved crown. Additionally, lot includes a basin with shallow rim by Birch Villers - Cotterell, and a shaped oval platter with eight-lobed rim, unmarked. Various marks. 9 3/4 Diameter, the dishes, the platter 16 3/8 L. x 11 3/4 D. and the basin, 2 5/8 H. x 10 5/8 Diameter. Good condition with obvious signs of use.
Inscription to the top reads Feare God and Obaye the Kind / Monmouth. Marked to the rim RK over two leaves in shield marks to the underside are mostly illegible, appears to be a bird with wings outstretched with UP.......ON. Approximate dimensions: 2 5/8 high x 10 1/2 inches diameter.. Condition: Surface wear and rubbing.

The two dishes with mid- 20th Century inscriptions. The smaller charger with S N B to side. 7 1/2 - 16 1/2 Diameter, overall. The Rashleigh platter 12 1/2 L. x 9 5/8 W.
Good condition, overall. Typical scratching, dents, etc. The larger charger has some oxidation and pitting.
