French Edgar Brandt and Daum Six Light Chandelier

Circa 1925.
Edgar Brandt (1880-1960) Antonin Daum (1864-1931).

Art Deco wrought iron and acid-etched six light chandelier. The patinated frame worked with foliate designs and flower heads within bands pendant from the later ceiling cap the glass shades carved with interlocking scroll and curling foliate motifs. The shades acid-etched pale orange, pale green, and pale amber glass with gold foil inclusions.
All glass shades engraved Daum, Cross of Lorraine, Nancy, France. Chandelier body marked E. Brandt
Approximate dimensions: 32 high x 25 inches diameter..
Provenance: From a Mill Valley private collection, 1972 - Present. Purchased in 1973 from Sybarites Gallery in NY. From a a Mill Valley private collection, 1973-Present This is very similar to that pictured in the 1926 Art Deco Paris Exposition.

Literature: Guillaume Janneau, Le Luminaire: Art Deco Lampen 1925-1937, Paris, 1992, p. 49 (for a version of the chandelier exhibited at the Exposition Internationale des Arts Dcoratifs et Industriels Modernes, Paris, 1925).

Condition: Patina to the metal frame, later ceiling cap.
Parallels: An identical example in form, with a signed ceiling cap, and one shade color throughout, was sold at Sothebys, December 18, 2013, lot 125. Estimate: 80,000 -120,000, sold for 87,500. That example was also from Northern California, but not in the same house as the present chandelier.
