Asian art treasures from the estate of a passionate collector headline Michaan's April 17 Gallery Auction. Fine famille rose porcelains, Han pottery, figures of Buddha... to name just a few from the array of fine pieces, an exciting opportunity for seasoned as well as new collectors. The collection filled the Piedmont, CA home of the late Dr. Richard I. Stone, who studied the origin and meaning of every object. Highlights include an ancient bronze censer, a graceful double-gourd dragon vase, an embroidered military rank badge centering a fierce tiger, and a number of large fresco paintings depicting celestial deities. Also offered this month is a collection of painted signs and advertising, including several of local interest, from a Sebastopol, CA single owner collection. These wonderful pieces of Americana are increasingly hard to find and will attract many bids. Diamond rings are featured in April, including a vintage platinum ring with old European-cut stones and another from Tiffany & Co. The 20k gold Indian jewelry suite with freshwater cultured pearls is estimated at $500-$700. It's a great month for earrings, whether you prefer sapphires and diaomonds or dramatic Baroque and Tahitian cultured pearls. Estate jewelry includes the charm bracelet with 20 irresistible charms from around the world. The art of Picasso anchors the April selection of fine art: "Bouquet de Fleurs," the offset lithograph from Far Gallery, New York is estimated at $3,000-$5,000 and the sensual Cubist etching, "Le Couple" is estimated at $2,000-$4,000. Many more works of art, at a wide variety of estimated price points, are offered in this sale. Orrin White's "Carmel Cypress" and "Seascape #2" by Frank William Cuprien are among the works by California artists. The auction includes estate furniture, antique Persian carpets and fine silver such as the "Salem" mid-century sterling flatware set by Tiffany & Co.
