Since 2002, Michaan's Auctions has been providing expert appraisals for its clientele, serving estate executors as well as private clients with auction evaluations, fair market, date of death, and insurance appraisals.
Complimentary Auction Appraisals
Michaan's Auctions hosts complimentary appraisal events in the main gallery every Wednesday, from 10:00am to 1:00pm. Our experienced appraisers are on site to evaluate up to five items. They will give you a verbal estimate of what they feel your property will sell for at auction. If you are not able to attend one our appraisal events you may call and schedule a different time for an appraisal or you can send in photographs/images via the Internet, or U.S.P.S., P.O. Box 489, attention: “Appraisals,” for an appraisal. Please note that jewelry appraisals require an appointment, our gemologist is not available for the Wednesday appraisal events.
If you have an estate or a significant amount of property Michaan's will schedule an appraiser to come to the residence, storage unit, etc. to give an overall auction estimate for the property in question. Formal Appraisals
Michaan's Auctions conducts legal, formal appraisals needed for estate tax purposes, date of death assessments and insurance documentation. Our experienced appraisers will catalog and appraise the personal items in an estate or individual items for an insurance document. Our minimum fee for this service is $300, this includes the first hour of work, for each hour after the first hour the fee is $150 per hour, per appraiser. We can conduct the appraisal and return a formal document to our clients in a three-week turn around time.
Trust and Estates
Our Trust and Estates Department works with trust officers from banks, private probate attorneys and private fiduciaries to appraise and liquidate the personal property from an estate. Michaan's Auctions will take care of everything. We conduct formal appraisals to appraise the personal property of an estate. Then we schedule a moving company to pack and remove all items from the physical property leaving it “broom swept.” Our business structure allows Michaan's to take and sell everything, allowing the trustee of the estate, to have one point of contact, inventory listings and settlements come from one business. We, of course, want your clients high-end property but are also willing to consign and sell all of the property to streamline the process for our clients. Shipping
Michaan's Auctions offers an in-house, full-service shipping department. Our shipping department will supply clients with quotes, which includes packing, shipping, and insurance. We ship all packages, domestic and international, through United Parcel Service. We also work with third party companies to ship furniture and larger property nation wide. As we are more than happy to assist our client with all their shipping needs the financial responsibility is the clients. Please read some testimonial below:
